The world of skateboarding knows Tony Hawk and his skill set. He dominated the skating circuit for a long time and invented extraordinary tricks. By landing the first-ever documented ‘900,’ Hawk rose to fame and cemented his legacy as the greatest of all time. But, age is catching up to him and he recently broke a femur, which came as a bitter blow to him. As a result, he talked about lowering the impact of performing high-intensity tricks.

In a recent interview to promote his latest documentary, Hawk talked about doing low-impact tricks compared to his golden age back in the 90s.

Tony Hawk focuses on low-impact tricks

During Shaun White‘s retirement statement, he talked about taking time for his body to recover as he was getting old. He is 35 and Hawk is 53. It’s just a testament to his love for skateboarding that he invents new tricks. Although he does not compete in competitions, he loves to skate when he is free and helps to develop the sport to the masses. Thus, it is just an incredible dedication towards his sport.

“I do but it’s funny because before I got hurt, I would have said, well I do but I don’t do such high-impact tricks anymore. And then, here we are. But, the tricks I have been learning in recent years are much more low-impact, a little more intricate.”

“They’re more for skaters and not for a general audience. They are not gonna move the needle with ESPN highlights or anything. But, it gives me enough to go on. It’s enough for me to get creative that way,” said Hawk.

The sensational Hawk, though, still continues to do creative tricks for skaters. He talked about inventing new tricks for younger skaters.

A fantastic career

The legendary Hawk is famous for landing the 900 during an X Games competition. A 900 includes 2 1/2 revolutions or 900 degrees in an aerial spin, while airborne. It is such a hard trick to perform as he tried it a lot of times, finally landing the trick at the end. Hence, the crowd was lit during that day and Hawk achieved his lifelong dream.

There are hardly a few athletes who are passionate about their sport, like Hawk. Fans often regard all those people who have consistently produced stunning performances as the GOATs. To sum up, Tony Hawk is the GOAT of skateboarding. Do you think he is?
