Alpine Skiing is one of the most competitive sports in the world; Just ask Mikaela Shiffrin, who completely lost her plot and had a poor Olympics this year. However, she is now eyeing a comeback to reclaim her title.

The World Cup overall title is up for grabs as Shiffrin looks to put away the disappointment in Beijing. Thus, this year’s World Cup title would be an interesting watch for fans of the sport.

The Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 proved to be a tough test for Shiffrin. Now, her comeback would be incredible for the sport, as well as for her to regain her confidence back. With all her plans in place, her determination to be the best is laudable.

Mikaela Shiffrin returns for the World Cup

The two-time Olympic gold medalist slid off in three events at the Winter Olympics. She did not finish in her signature slalom, giant slalom, and combined competitions in Beijing. This shocked the world, as she was the favorite to win the gold medal.

Hence, the World Cup battle is much anticipated for fans and herself. The World Cup overall title is heading to its final stages as she is tied up with Petra Vlhova, who won the gold medal for the slalom competitions.

Both skiers did not take part in last week’s downhill and are now are expected to return for the Super-G and Giant slalom competitions in Switzerland. After the event in Switzerland, the title decider will be held in France, after two weeks. As for Shiffrin, she has what it takes to create history.

Notably, if she wins the crown, it would be her fourth. This would tie her up with famous skier Lindsey Vonn while she trails Austrian Annemarie Moser-Pröll, who has six titles to her name.

Can she return with a bang?

The disappointment she faced in Beijing left her in tears, as she could not believe what happened. She had a tough time in Beijing, getting grips on the snow as she lost her way in the battle. Thus, being a two-time gold medalist, she would hope to make her comeback at the upcoming World Cup event.
