First, a vicious bear attack, then a rattlesnake bite, and after that, a ferocious shark attack – it indeed is a hat trick for the young surfing icon Dylan McWilliams.
Dylan McWilliams gained widespread recognition not only because of his surfing prowess but also because of the series of dangers he cheated in order to survive. The near-death accidents, got him recognition as “one of the unluckiest people on the planet” by National Geographic. However, the young surfing prodigy deems himself grateful for beating the odds and making it through, in the end.

As per the report of the Daily Sentinel, the chances of being bitten by three animals is almost 900 quadrillion to one. However, the 25-year-old fell under the probability of occurrence, being attacked by three of the most untamed creatures of the animal kingdom.
In 2015, a rattlesnake bit him while he was hiking in Utah. Three years after that, a bear grabbed the surfer’s head and dragged him out of his sleeping bag. Following this, in 2018, McWilliams went on a surfing trip to one of the safest beaches in Kaui. Well, it turned out it was not safe for him. While paddling on the waves, he got knocked off his board and bitten by a shark on his right calf!

Nevertheless, McWilliams is nothing but optimistic about those accidents. Taking his inspiration from his idol and Australian wildlife educator, Steve Irwin, the Hawaiian is always intrigued by survival. As an adventurer, he conceded, “I’m thinking I should buy a lottery ticket”. Interestingly, the surfer places his trust in God as he believes that the almighty has a plan for him. McWilliams added, “I believe God really has a hand in everything…so I don’t think about any of this too long. God has a plan for me”.

The surfer loves to spend his time in the wilderness, interacting with the wildlife. Nonetheless, with just some clothes and a knife to survive, McWilliams girds up his loins, and goes outdoors whenever he gets the chance.
