Nebraska Huskers alum Lexi Rodriguez may not have won the NCAA national title. However, she established herself as the benchmark for all future liberos who would join the squad. When the 5’5 defensive specialist joined Big Red, she had the monumental task of matching the legacy of Olympian and former NU volleyball star Justine Wong-Orantes. However, not only did the libero match the Olympian’s legacy, she surpassed it. Rodriguez smashed Wong-Orantes’ school record of 1,890 digs.

As fate would have it, shortly after breaking the record, the player with 1,897 digs would join the Olympian. Lexi Rodriguez surprised fans by going pro with League One Volleyball (LOVB). Many wondered where the talented libero went after she didn’t participate in the PVF draft last year. However, after joining LOVB Omaha, fans are delighted to see two of the greatest Nebraska Huskers Liberos on the same roster. It seems the duo is getting along swimmingly, as evident in their Instagram video.

Rodriguez, Justine Wong-Orantes, and their fellow LOVB Omaha Libero Annie Cesar appeared in a goofy skit alongside outside hitter Jaali Winters. “Just three chill bros,” the LOBV wrote in the caption of their post. Meanwhile, the three liberos of LOVB Omaha could barely contain their laughter as the trio dubbed themselves “the click” in the video.

While this may be nothing more than a skit, LOVB’s caption and the content of the Instagram reel may indicate just how well the trio has clicked. However, this isn’t the first time the newly formed LOVB Omaha players have bonded over post-practice fun activities. Just two days ago, Jali Winters posted a reel captioned, “Just a bunch of coneheads.”

Almost the entire LOVB Omaha roster appeared in the video, where one player tried to knock a cone off another’s head with a gentle serve. And while everyone failed, Lexi Rodriguez succeeded. However, one of the reasons why the team bonded so quickly could lie in how LOVB Omaha built its roster.

Lexi Rodriguez and the Olympian aren’t the only former Huskers in LOVB Omaha’s

LOVB Omaha follows the league’s motto of uplifting volleyball in every aspect. However, it’s clear that the team has prioritized its namesake city and the state of Nebraska. That’s because Madi Kubik, Lauren Stivrins, and Jordan Larson join Justine Wong-Orantes and the 21-year-old with a connection to Nebraska. And what exactly do all five athletes have in common?

They’ve all played for the Nebraska Huskers in college. The players don’t even strictly have to be native to the state, as no one other than former Nebraska Huskers assistant coach Jordan Larson is a Nebraska native. However, it would be safe to say that Lexi Rodriguez and the others see Nebraska as a second home, and the fans agree.

Even LOVB Omaha recognized it when announcing Rodriguez’s signing with them. “Your queen isn’t going anywhere. Please join us in welcoming @Alexis14Rod to the LOVB Omaha roster,” read the caption. The former Huskers are equally delighted to be representing Nebraska once again. “It is an opportunity to keep growing the sport, especially in Nebraska,” said Rodriguez.

Madi Kubik seconded Rodriguez. “I got the love from Husker Nation and from playing in Nebraska, so it’s really cool to be back,” added Kubik. However, with LOBV’s inaugural season right around the corner, it’ll be interesting to see how well the synergy between Lexi Rodriguez, Justine Wong-Orantes, and the other former Huskers translates to the court.
