Besides these matches, there are interesting matches on the other courts. Five-time champion Venus Williams will be up against Mihaela Buzarnescu. 2017 champion Garbine Muguruza is facing Fiona Ferro from France.
The top seeds should get through the first-round matches without much difficulty. The match involving Murray could be tricky as he is competing in a Grand Slam tournament after a lengthy period. Nonetheless, a player of Andy’s caliber should eventually emerge on top.
Close encounters on Day 1 at the All England Club
Another interesting battle will involve Stephens and Kvitova. Although the American player has been in good form, the two-time champion has the edge on the grass courts. Coming on to Williams’ match, she could face a stern challenge as the Romanian player is in good form. During the French Open 2021, she managed to take a set against Serena Williams.
