In the free agency window ahead of the 2026 WNBA season, there haven’t been any moves that have caught as much attention as Angel Reese’s trade from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream. To double down on it, the trade wasn’t just a move; it might be a power shift in the league that might affect it for years to come. Now, Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink has shared her two cents on the significance of this trade.

In a recent interview, Brink shared that with Reese’s addition, the Atlanta Dream will be one of the WNBA’s top teams. “I feel like she’s going to love Atlanta, it’s a great city. That’s gonna be a really tough team to play against. So, I am just excited to see what’s happening for her,” Brink said.

Brink’s assessment is spot-on. With Angel Reese, the Atlanta Dream’s ceiling has skyrocketed immensely for the upcoming season. The team’s scoring options are set with Rhyne Howard and Allisha Grey. On top of that, Reese can make a significant contribution with her prowess on the glass, which she has demonstrated over the past two years with the Chicago Sky, with averages of 13.1 and 12.6 in the 2024 and 2025 seasons, respectively.

With Grey and Howard, the Dream had already qualified for the playoffs in the last three seasons. But they faced first-round defeats in all three instances, where they have struggled with offensive consistency and sometimes building that energy in high-pressure games.  And Reese might just fix it for them because we all know about her scoring prowess as well as the passion she carries on the court with ease. Notably, this was also the only objective that Chi Barbie had demanded from the Chicago Sky in the postseason before her trade.

And now, with Grey and Howard sharing the offensive load, Reese might now just have the perfect team she had dreamt of. Upon her trade from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream, Reese has already made sure that she does everything in her power to take the team to success. “I’m focused on continuing to grow my game, competing at the highest level, connecting with the fans, and giving everything I’ve got to the Dream,” Reese said recently.

All in all, with all these superstars on the same team, the Atlanta Dream will, of course, be one of the favorites for the WNBA Championship in the upcoming season, if the team can blend its chemistry. Having faced Reese when the latter was in Sky, Brink also knows very well that Chi Barbie can be clutch for her team on the court, making her so difficult to guard at times. And for context, Cameron Brink wasn’t the first to echo this sentiment.

Atlanta Dream General Manager Decodes the Angel Reese Trade

While Reese’s move to the Atlanta Dream is a great opportunity for her, it’s an even greater advantage for the team. With a collective skill in scoring and rebounding, Chi Barbie stands among the most sought-after young talents of this era. And this trade doesn’t just solidify the present, but also provides them with sustainability for the future.

Dan Padover, Dream’s general manager, recently highlighted what Reese will bring to the franchise. “Angel is a dynamic talent and a perfect fit for what we are building in Atlanta,” he said. “She has already proven herself as one of the most impactful players in the league, and her competitiveness, production, and drive to win align seamlessly with our vision. This is an exciting moment for our organization and our fans.”

Meanwhile, Reese’s impact isn’t just bound to the court; it extends off the court as well. Reese has already done it with the Chicago Sky, where she has seen increased ticket sales at the arenas and enhanced national viewership. And comparatively, Reese will possibly do the same with the Atlanta Dream.

eese’s impact is already being felt. Since she joined the Dream, the team’s social media has gained 18,000 followers. In contrast, the Chicago Sky lost more than 10,000 followers, suggesting the immediate effect Reese has on fan engagement.
