Tennis courts often give birth to on-court rivalries. A handful of these rivalries take a step further to turn into friendship. An apt example of it is Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova. Despite being arch on-court rivals, the two shared a gala time off the court. One of the off-court moments is an awkward date that the two went on.

Ever since their respective retirements, Evert and Navratilova have been regular participants in interviews and talk shows. Walking down memory lane, in 2010, Evert indulged in a conversation with a media house. During the conversation, she opened up about her double date with Navratilova and American singer, late Dino Martin.

As per reports, Martina was also the one who helped Evert meet her second husband, Alpine racer, Andy Mill. However, little did she know that she had paved her way to disappointment. While Evert hoped to go on a date with Martin, the American singer, on the other hand, asked if he could go out with Navratilova. Reportedly because he was mesmerized with Navratilova’s buff physique.

As amusing as it may sound, the legendary players went on a double date. While Navratilova went with Martin, they were joined by Evert, who came with ‘I love Lucy’ fame, Desi Arnaz.

Wearing her humor hat, Evert rolled her eyes as she went ahead and replied to her best friend. The former World No. 1 asserted that after a chaste date with Dino, her pal could have figured it out.
