Gauff comments on the importance of CPR
In the post-match press conference, when Gauff was asked why she booked a CPR class? Gauff revealed that she always wanted to learn CPR. She said, ” I had something similar happen, not to someone that I know, but it happened to — I was practicing, and a guy, unfortunately, had, like, cardiac arrest, and he ended up didn’t making it, yeah. And my dad had to do CPR on him.” This incident motivated Gauff to learn CPR. It was a story from three years ago, but Gauff only recently took the CPR class on her flight back home from Wimbledon.
She then mentioned her doubles partner Jessica Pegula, who almost lost her mother to cardiac arrest. Pegula’s sister had to give their mother a CPR, and she eventually survived. Similarly, Gauff also worries for her cousins, who are quite young. She does not want to be in a helpless situation in case of unfortunate circumstances.
