Iga Swiatek has been in roaring form so far in 2022. She won the Qatar Open at the end of February. One month later, today Swiatek stands as a history maker. With her win at the ‘Sunshine Double’, Swiatek becomes the first woman in tennis history to win the opening three WTA Masters 1000 titles of the year.
At the recently concluded Miami Masters, the Pole beat Naomi Osaka 6-4, 6-0 in a lopsided final in the Sunshine state. Though the first set saw some competitive tennis between the two, Osaka lost steam in the second set. Subsequently, the former World No.1 succumbed to the 20-year-old in straight sets.

Post her win, during the post-match press conference, she revealed how she felt being on-court in the finals. She also spoke about how did she felt about reaching the finals.
Iga Swiatek opens up about her thoughts during the finals
Opening up on how she felt during her final clash, Iga said, “In the final, I felt focused and calm, I took this match like any other.”
Every player has their own mantra of giving their best shot during a match. Some players get involved in some pre-match routines, while some opt for a mental shift during the match. Iga was no different. Commenting on how did she achieve her peak during the finals, Iga confessed, “In the final, I felt focused and calm…I wanted to get into my zone taking points one after the other without worrying about the score because I know that’s how I play best.”

Swiatek sheds some light on her incredible run in Miami
Following her win in Doha, she next entered the Indian Wells Masters. Having a stronghold of her game, she sailed through her opponents, winning her maiden Indian Wells Masters title. Continuing a great run of form in the Sunshine State, she claimed her third consecutive Masters 1000 title.

Winning the Miami Open, she became only the fourth player in women’s tennis to win the Sunshine Doubles. Elaborating on her win, Swiatek confessed that she went through a lot of moments of doubt during her stupendous run in Miami.
“On arrival, I feel relieved and also a little surprised at the way in which I managed all these matches in Miami. It’s even quite crazy because I went through a lot of moments of doubt during this tournament,” she said.

Following her title win in Miami, Swiatek currently stands on a 17 -match unbeaten streak since the Qatar Open. Even though she has recently announced her withdrawal from the Charleston Open, Swiatek should be hoping to return to the tour soon.
