Osaka’s absence led to a lack of a particular flair in the last year. The tennis world missed her dearly, and she was met with just as much excitement when she returned earlier this year. Osaka cleared it up instantly, as Swiatek has been the WTA number 1 for a long time. “I wasn’t the #1 player. Iga has been #1 for like 4 years. I’m just enjoying the moment, I appreciate so much, stepping on the court every time, and I know how much I know an athlete’s lifespan isn’t that long. It took me to step away to realize that. So thankful every time I can go out on the court healthy.”
