American teenage sensation Coco Gauff clinched the US Open title. She defeated the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. Though the Belarusian had a dominating start, and Gauff struggled to align her game, the teenager made the perfect comeback. From exiting in the first round of the Wimbledon Championships to clinching her maiden WTA 500 and WTA 1000 titles, and finally the first career Salm, Gauff proved her mettle.

The 19-year-old fell to the ground immediately after becoming the Grand Slam champion and hugged her family and team for their support. But Gauff had her priorities set as she ensured to inform her brother of the big news herself.

The maturity that Gauff displayed stunned the world, and the crowd erupted in cheers for her composed demeanor and a perfect win. She called her dear family members and asked for her brother in particular.

The US Open champion picked up her phone and asked, “Is my brother there?” But despite facetiming his brother and asking the family around, she couldn’t have a word with him as a Slam champion before claiming the trophy.
