The American tennis legends, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert were hailed as two of the greatest tennis athletes because of their dominating performances on the court. Additionally, they have left their mark on the tennis court with their historical achievements in the sport. However, Navratilova and Evert themselves witnessed something historical during their recent visit to Texas.

The former tennis players recently visited the National Cowgirl Museum in Fort Worth. During the visit, Navratilova and Evert were joined by their compatriot and another tennis great, Rosemary Casals. Meanwhile, the American tennis legend trio also honored the Wild West’s first female athletes.

The former American tennis players are very close to each other as they are very good friends. As a result, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert have been often spotted together for various events. They were also there together for their recent visit to Fort Worth for the WTA Finals event. However, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert got intrigued about exploring the lives of cowgirls back in the United States.

Another former American tennis player, Rosemary Casals, joined Navratilova and Evert during their visit to National Cowgirl Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. Meanwhile, they honored the cowgirls of the 1800s and 1900s era in the Wild West. Navratilova was quite amused to learn that women of that period, were professional athletes. The 18-time singles Grand Slam champion further praised them for excelling in a male-dominated society of that era.

Navratilova stated, “These women were way ahead of their time. They were living in a man’s world where women had no rights and certainly weren’t supposed to be cowgirls. And they were professional athletes, who knew?”

Meanwhile, Casals also got a taste of being a cowgirl herself as she was spotted riding on a horse mannequin in the museum. Evert further advised Casals about the cowgirl style of riding horses. She stated, “Rock back and forth. Have fun.”

Navratilova and Evert are ambassadors for WTA Finals

The two former World No.1s, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, have achieved massive successes in the WTA Finals during their stellar tennis journey. As a result, the Women’s Tennis Association previously announced that the former American tennis players will serve as Legend Ambassadors for the popular event in Fort Worth.

During her illustrious tennis journey, Evert has won four singles titles with her dominating performances in the WTA Finals. Meanwhile, her friend and rival, Navratilova has captured eight singles titles in the WTA Finals during her glorious tennis journey.

Apart from that, the American tennis legends each have 18 Grand Slam singles titles under their belt. With their incredible performances, they have further shared an iconic rivalry on the tennis court.
