After her Australian Open victory in January 2022, Ashleigh Barty surprised the tennis world with her sudden retirement. At that time, she was at the peak of her career, having already won three grand slam titles. She stayed at the top of the game for 3 years, since June 2019, up to her retirement.

The time after her retirement was full of ‘off court action”. Barty married her long-time partner and golfer Garry Kissick. Also, she released her memoir ‘My Dream Time’. And she released a series of children’s books, ‘Little Ash’. Now, she has someone besides her to read such stories to, as Barty recently announced the birth of a baby boy and gave him a beautiful name!

Ashleigh Barty has a brand-new surprise for her fans

Ashleigh Barty gave birth to a baby boy on Tuesday night. And her husband, Kissick, announced the news on his Instagram. He shared the picture of their baby and wrote, ‘Beautiful boy. Welcome to the world, Hayden! 

In January, the former Australian tennis star had revealed that she was expecting. She got married in July 2022, months after saying goodbye to her tennis career. The official Australian Open tennis page congratulated the star, calling it her ‘greatest triumph‘. And the Wimbledon official Twitter account too congratulated her and tweeted with a prediction, “Future Wimbledon champ?”

With her son’s birth, the tennis star has now a new future to look forward to. But earlier too, she didn’t feel disappointed or regret leaving tennis.

Barty on discovering comfort after quitting tennis

Tennis had been a passion of her life. Though she played cricket for a year, she soon came back to play tennis. Many had speculated on the lack of emotional drive in her to continue with tennis. But recently Ashleigh Barty revealed that she felt comfortable after quitting the game. She said,” To be honest, I think what has surprised me most is how comfortable I’ve been.”

Further, she talked about the fear and uncertainty she had earlier felt. She said, “‘I think there was probably a normal fear or uncertainty in not knowing what my life would look like after tennis after being so focused.” However, she added that once she quit tennis, she was able to slip “seamlessly “ into a new life. And with the birth of her son, Ashleigh Barty has a whole new wonderful life to slip in seamlessly.
