Serena Williams, the legendary 23-time Grand Slam champion, recently announced her retirement through a Vogue issue. The hairstylist behind the cover photo of Serena Williams in Vogue magazine, LaTisha Chong, recently passed away from metastatic breast cancer.

The artist’s skills behind a camera were on show for the world, especially in the emotional essay penned by Serena. People have learned from the player’s tenacity and resilience despite whatever she had to go through in her life and career.
The renowned hairstylist who worked with Serena Williams passed away
LaTisha Chong had grown up in Trinidad and Tobago and shifted to the US with her family at the age of 6. She had become a hairstylist by working on the skills that she had learned since she was a child. The hairstylist had worked with top-class professionals in her field of work throughout her career.

In one of her most cherished projects, she worked with Serena Williams for her Vogue cover shoot. This was the same edition through which Serena announced her retirement.
The hairstylist was 32 years old and passed away because of a metastatic breast cancer. In addition to Serena, LaTisha had also worked with the American actress Tracee Ellis Ross for the Met gala.

On the court, we have coaches, managers, and trainers. Off the court, we have make-up artists, hair stylists, and designers doing the work. Losing one of them disrupts the equilibrium, and it wouldn’t be any different to a legendary athlete like Serena.
