The 23-time grand slam champion and tennis legend Serena Williams has announced her retirement. This has undoubtedly made her fans upset. However, that might not be the case with Serena’s eldest sister, Sabrina Williams, who recently gave her thoughts on her the retirement of the legendary American.

She thinks it is the correct time for the tennis legend to retire and explore different arenas where she can easily thrive.

Sabrina Williams prompts Serena Williams’ decision to retire

Sabrina Williams is the half-sister of Serena Williams from the first marriage of Richard Williams. She feels it is the right time for her to retire as now she can also plan to expand her family. The elder Williams feels that she should have done it sooner avoiding all the injuries that she had to go through. She said, “She could have gone out on the top, she still is, but she’s been hooked on hunting these trophies.” She added, “I just don’t think it matters at this point. Just retire.”

The sister questioned the other life choices that the tennis player could make. She said, “She needs to quit, seriously, she doesn’t have any other activities in her life? She’s 40, you’ve made your money.”

Sabrina Williams casually went on and said, “Her achievements are her achievements, do I care? No, I never knew her.” Adding, “Do I think she’s an overachiever? Yeah, that runs in our genes from our dad,” she prompted her to explore other options in life.

She said, “We are genetically gifted from our dad. She can go on and do something else.” Giving her ideas, she said, “There’s just so many different things that she can get into – do more charity work, a tennis foundation, help kids get to college, whatever, there’s a lot more she can do.”

What are some of the areas Serena can ‘evolve’ into after retiring?

Serena Williams is undoubtedly one of the best tennis players. However, tennis is not the only area that she has excelled. The player has her own clothing brand called, S by Serena and she also has entered the market of jewelry designing.

Apart from that, like her husband Alexis Ohanian, she has also established a venture capital firm called Serena Ventures. Besides that, she is also the joint owner of the women’s soccer club, Angel City FC, which was formed by renowned Hollywood actress Natalie Portman.

The 23-time grand slam champion, however, considers her biggest achievement to be her daughter Olympia. One of her main reasons for retiring at this stage was to fulfill her daughter’s wish to have a baby sister.

Considering such vast avenues, it’s safe to say that Serena will have her hands full both in her professional and her personal life.
