Naomi Osaka is set to return to competitive action after her sensational first round exit at the French Open. After suffering from an Achilles injury in Madrid, she has failed to keep up any sort of form going into the clay swing this season.

The Japanese was hopeful to return to Wimbledon, but the news of removal of ranking points could put her participation in doubt. The former World No. 1 has dropped out of the Top 10 rankings with injury and fitness issues in recent past.

Osaka updates her fans on Instagram

The star has always been active on social media, discuss social and mental issues in the world. With a huge following, she has become on of the most influential names on Tour. In a recent post, she uploaded a collection of pictures titled “life lately.”

Osaka recently posted a video of her running on an underwater treadmill looking to return to full match fitness. The caption read,Here’s me running on a underwater treadmill because my Achilles is being stubborn still. I must be aging or something.”

The other pictures included her dog Butta, while also posing in front of her house’s swimming pool.

Will Naomi Osaka return to the top?

Osaka has struggled in the last few seasons, even withdrawing from tournaments due to mental health issues. However, after her return she managed to form little consistency, while being knocked out of major tournaments.

However, the former Australian Open winner will return to the hardcourts where she achieved success before. Osaka has won at Flushing Meadows in 2018 and 2020. Alongside this, she has claimed the Championship in Australia in 2019 and 2021.

Osaka will hope to improve her consistency and recreate the form from her previous best seasons. However, it will not be an easy task for the Japanese with newcomers and young stars rising to the top of the WTA Tour.
