Iga Swiatek has been ruling the media ever since she won her fourth Grand Slam. Since the clock for Wimbledon is ticking, the Pole is being asked about her practice and techniques to defeat the opponents, especially her two biggest rivals. Iga Swiatek might have four Major titles under her belt, but the defending Wimbledon champion, Elena Rybakina, and the 2023 Australian Open champion, Aryna Sabalenka, are lying in wait for the Pole to slip. The rivalry among the WTA players has been doing rounds since the beginning of the season, and it reached a feverish pitch among fans at the French Open 2023. The performance of the world number one on grass is not as great as it is on the clay. Swiatek revealed that she is looking forward to participating in the tournament as she is confident about her way of playing. She also added that the level of pressure she takes depends on the media and the questions put forth by them.

Recently, she was asked about her fellow players and how she feels about them. The 22-year-old pointed out that till her fourth crown, she was not asked about the rivalry. But it is what everybody is focusing on now. The Pole felt that everyone has their own style of play and felt that there was no common ground between her and her on-court rivals.

Swiatek asserted in an interview, reported by Arab News, after her French Open win, “Last year I wasn’t even asked about other players and this year I’m asked basically in every press conference a couple of times, even though they’re on the other side of the draw, there’s nothing really connecting us in this tournament — there’s always something around that’s implying that things are different.

Moreover, the Polish sensation opened up about her secrets behind the success she has enjoyed over the past few years on the tour.

The three-time Roland Garros champion said, “But you always have to come back to what it is you want to achieve because it has nothing to do with other players, even rankings sometimes. Because you want to win matches and tournaments, and rankings go up after that.”

Swiatek made it clear that she does not need rivalry to play her game. Opponents’ games, titles, or rankings are not her priority. The queen of clay is only focused on herself and winning more matches. For her, winning tournaments is important, and the results that come from it are by-products of her hard work.
