Venus Williams’ latest collaboration with Selena Gomez

The seven-time Grand Slam champion, along with Selena Gomez’s Wondermind, is ready to collaborate on a new docu-series based on mental health in sports—specifically in tennis. Wondermind is a company built to help people tackle their mental health battles in their own personal journeys of struggling towards peace and well-being. With recent investments in her company and an interesting project lined up, Gomez’s interactions with the Williams sisters have proven to be fertile ground.

Venus Williams and Selena Gomez are presently working on developing ‘Behind the Racket’. The series aims to destigmatize mental health taboos and aims by raising awareness about challenges faced by athletes. According to Deadline, Williams was quite excited about stepping into this project and working with Wondermind. She excitedly said, “By exploring and sharing how athletes cope with their mental health and other off-court challenges. We’re able to address and normalize the many different layers of how mental health contributes to player performance and beyond.”

Serena Williams’ contribution to the mental health startup

While the 41-year-old tennis legend might not be a part of the recent project, Serena has definitely been a huge part of the startup. Last year, when Wondermind closed its first round of funding, the American tennis legend led the round and invested around $5 million in the company.

Ultimately, with the boosted profile, the company ended up creating a valuation of $100 million. In turn, this spike saw its founder Selena Gomez’s personal net worth skyrocket manifold. Now, with a net worth of around $800 million – almost a nine-fold increase from last year’s $95 million – Gomez’s partnership has extended even further.
