Facing Amanda Anisimova, World No.4 Karolina Pliskova made an incredible comeback after losing the second set and defeated the American in three sets. The final scoreline of the match was 7-5, 6(5)-7(7), 7(9)-6(7).
Karolina Pliskova showed some phenomenal gameplay and even saved a match-point to win the match. She was playing not only against Amanda Anisimova but also against the crowd, which was constantly supporting their local girl. However, in the end, she kept her calm and delivered an extradorinaiy performance on the court under pressure.

“Thank you New York. You were an unforgettable crowd,” tweeted Anisimova.
It is the crowd that gave her the extra energy. She only allowed Pliskova to break past her in the first set and then, played some quite attacking tennis throughout the match.
