Serena Williams returned to the tour after a long hiatus of almost one year. The 40-year-old was out of action after a hamstring injury she incurred in the first round of Wimbledon Championships 2021. She shocked everyone after announcing her plans to play in the Wimbledon Championships. However, her return did not last long as the 40-year-old lost a close match against Harmony Tan and crashed out of the tournament.
Even though she lost the match, the world took notice of her unmatched passion and love for the game. Making a return at this age and almost pulling off a win in the very first match shows her dedication and love for the game. Serena fought hard in her match against the 24-year-old Frenchwoman. However, she could not end on the winning side. Serena’s gameplay hugely impressed Martina Navratilova, who was covering the match on BBC. Notably, the 65-year-old said that the Williams was playing well, and she could have won the tournament if she could have managed to win her first match.
