The competition extended to the sporting world as Joe Montana, as a reply to Pepsi’s commercial featuring Evert, showed Montana presenting a challenge.

“I’m gonna challenge all those linebackers singing for diet coke. Tennis players, the game show hosts, the singers, any celebrity who has ever done a diet coke commercial to come on live TV with me here and take a blind taste test to prove once and for all which tastes better, diet coke or new diet pepsi. So come on miss Wimbledon, i’m serving,” he said, presenting a direct challenge to Evert.
