Guevara took to his Twitter and revealed that he suffered a scratched cornea during the match. However, the good news is he can open his eyes, and it looks like he will be back in action soon.

Interestingly, Sammy also praised his rival Darby Allin and noted how the two of them continuously put on great matches ever since they signed the deal with AEW President Tony Khan, three years ago.

Eventually, Sammy ended the message by saying that every time he wrestles inside the ring, he will give his absolute best.

“Finally able to open my eyes I suffered a scratched cornea on Wednesday. All respect to Darby, We came into this company with everything to prove & in 3 years we have shown that we not only belong but we are this place. Every time I’m on your TV I’ll give you a show, I promise,” he wrote.

Sammy Guevara understands his responsibility for AEW

Sammy and Darby both started in Tony Khan’s AEW together and have been with the company ever since. Now, with former TNT Champion Cody Rhodes gone, it seems like Sammy realizes the pressure and is willing to put in the extra effort.

This will certainly make WWE look stronger, as Rhodes was one of the founding members of AEW, and acquiring the former EVP of a rival wrestling company speaks volumes.
