Despite the ongoing storm on social media created by The Rock, Mercedes Mone was still able to make heads turn with her recruitment updates. While many wanted Mone to return to the WWE and become Sasha Banks once again, she decided to side with the AEW.

It is widely known that many members of the WWE Universe are a little sour about it. However, a WWE Hall of Famer is actually appreciative of Sasha Banks siding with Tony Khan. In fact, he still had good words for Banks despite having several vested interests with the WWE.

WWE Hall of Famers Booker T recently appeared on the Hall of Fame Podcast. The podcast is a weekly outlet of T’s very own pro wrestling company named Reality of Wrestling. While discussing several topics related to both WWE and AEW, the topic of Sasha Banks also came up. Speaking about her AEW move, Booker T said, “Mone is about getting that paper, baby. You know, you saw the dollar signs, right? At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about. If Mone couldn’t make a deal with WWE and the door’s there at AEW, I mean, why not do it?”  The Hall of Famer also spoke about Sasha Banks and her time in Japan.

Booker T noted, “If you don’t have to work in Japan, you ain’t gonna work there. If you could work right here at home, you gonna do it.” He further noted that Sasha Banks deciding to come back home to the US was an excellent decision.

According to him, “That grind in Japan is not like here in the United States. Those arenas are not like here in the United States. You can work the Tokyo Dome all you want, but it ain’t like being at home in a warm bed with a remote control in your hand.“ While Booker has made some fine points about the difference between Japan and the USA, Sasha Banks isn’t completely back home.

While Sasha Banks has reportedly signed a new contract with Tony Khan’s AEW, her heart is still not out of Japan. After all, she has said multiple times that real pro wrestling for women actually happens in The Land of the Rising Sun. Mercedes Mone will still appear for matches at the NJPW as well as Stardom, which is another Japanese pro wrestling outfit.

The reason? Sasha Banks wants to create history with her work as a pro wrestler. According to her observation, while Japan provides that space to its female wrestlers, the US does not.
