Cody Rhodes is the new WWE Undisputed Universal Champion! After a fantastic match in the main event of Night 2 of WrestleMania 40, Rhodes managed to pin Roman Reigns to win the world title, thus ending his story. He completed what his father, Dusty Rhodes, could never achieve: Being a world champion in WWE. The match lasted 33 minutes and 25 seconds but will leave behind a legacy of a lifetime. And many have praised this enormous achievement, including Cody Rhodes’ elder brother, Dustin Rhodes.

Taking to Twitter, Dustin tweeted, “I love you brother! Now YOUR story begins!! Congrats Champ!!” But he could’ve wished his brother personally as well. After all, people spotted him in the audience.

Dustin Rhodes is currently with AEW and hopes to finish his own story. However, both brothers shared part of their career together. The two were WWE Tag Team Champions in 2013 and 2014, and subsequently faced off in All Elite Wrestling at Double or Nothing 2019, before occasionally teaming up as part of the Brotherhood. While Cody Rhodes did establish himself as a singles star, he has cemented his legacy as one of the best in history by winning the Universal Championship. A feat that one of his biggest supporters and brother Dustin Rhodes made sure to shout from all over the rooftops.

Post the match, Cody Rhodes got emotional. “As much as I have the legacy and the last name, I didn’t have all the tools. My brother is 6-4; my dad and my sister just had all this charisma. But the people resonate. … you can make it to the main event. You can be the main event. I wanted to be the franchise. At my age and where I’m at in my career, I know that’s not been the story. But I’m very proud of what this story has become. You know why it resonates? Because it’s real.”

And while fans will be glad that the American Nightmare finished his story, several would still be disappointed by the fact that Dustin Rhodes did not appear to help his brother. But now that his brother is the champion, can we get to see the return of Goldust?
