On January 25, the AEW crowd gave a warm reception to a debutant as Mark Briscoe walked inside the arena holding the ROH Tag Team belts. Already a renowned wrestler with an experience of over a decade and a half, this was, however, Briscoe’s first televised match. He won the bout against Jay Lethal as the entire roster came out and paid tributes to his deceased brother, Jay Briscoe. Since then, Mark Briscoe has made AEW his home, enthralling fans with his wrestling acumen.

Now, the 38-year-old AEW star seems to have found new tag team partners. He shared a glimpse of two future stars and fans, including WWE superstar Natalya, couldn’t keep calm.

Meanwhile, this might be a good headache for AEW president Tony Khan as he will now have a pool of talents to choose from, who are trained by a revered pro-wrestler from Khan’s fold. It is also likely to be a missed opportunity for the rival WWE. Why so? Let’s find out.

Here’s why Mark Briscoe might never sign with the WWE

Even though he has found fame in AEW as a singles player, Mark Briscoe is mostly known for his exploits in Ring of Honor as a tag team wrestler. He teamed up with his brother, Jay Briscoe, and dominated the division in the promotion, until the latter’s untimely death in January this year.

To give context to their dominance, the Briscoe Brothers won the ROH Tag Team championship 13 times. Despite being such a dominant pair, the duo has never featured in the WWE. While almost every big wrestler has had a stint with the Stamford-based promotion, why didn’t the Briscoes follow the trend? Well, they did but were never signed. The reason, however, will leave fans shocked.

Last month, Mark Briscoe featured as a guest on Chris Jericho’s Talk is Jericho podcast, where he spoke about his life and wrestling. During the chat, Briscoe revealed that he and his brother Jay had been at a WWE trial and even heard encouraging words about their performance, but never got a callback. Well, they did, as Mark got to know later.

“Jay, he said ‘man you know what he told me? He said we are not cosmetically pleasing enough!’ I was like ‘What!? For real? Damn that’s cold man.”,” Briscoe told Jericho, sharing the interaction he had with his brother, Jay. Since then, the wrestlers have never set foot towards Vince McMahon’s promotion and Mark Briscoe isn’t likely to do it in the future.
