WWE Superstar CM Punk recently pointed his finger at a possible dumpster fire going on in his former workplace: AEW. ‘The Cult of Personality’ openly criticized Tony Khan. He said that he doesn’t have what it takes to be the boss. He even noted that the AEW head honcho was just a nice guy and nothing more.

His words caught the attention of AEW superstar Eddie Kingston who unsuccessfully tried to demean CM Punk. Apart from Kingston, several AEW and Tony Khan fans also got enraged by the statement of ‘The Best in The World’. Interestingly, however, these fans received a sharp insult from a WWE legend for defending Khan.

CM Punk is known for having zero hesitation each time he speaks. Being behind the mic doesn’t seem to induce any hesitation in him either, and his blunt remarks only end up getting louder. Siding with what Punk said about Tony Khan, WWE legend and pro wrestling analyst Jim Cornette criticized AEW fans for their remarks against the former AEW star’s words. Speaking on his podcast, Cornette said, “The Tony Khan kind of fans out there. If Tony wasn’t a billionaire’s son, these are the fans that are on the message boards with him. Weak-minded, don’t understand the business, and believe anything that’s said to them by the people they like.”

Cornette noted that they didn’t like the words of CM Punk because they refused to leave their echo chambers. Tony Khan has almost always been a subject of criticism ever since he started AEW. However, the noise about his failures in the company has increased recently. CM Punk has still not given the full picture of what happened during his firing in AEW. However, The Second City Saint didn’t refrain from insulting Khan when he got the chance to during his interview with Ariel Helwani’s MMA Hour. Jim Cornette also criticized Tony Khan’s motivation on his podcast. In fact, he even talked about a recent WWE development that far saw very easy success compared to the things AEW tries to do.

Jim Cornette in the same podcast later talked about a recently released video footage. It was where CM Punk and Randy Orton watched videos of their rivalry dating a decade ago. He narrated an instance from the video where Punk walked in on The Viper badmouthing him. Cornette noted that both wrestlers hugely profited from the rivalry and this was how top talent should be utilized.
