The rumors of CM Punk’s imminent return to AEW are gaining serious traction. Punk is reportedly ready to work with any AEW wrestler that includes Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. However, the backstage debacle that happened a few months ago may be a problem for Tony Khan as he looks to book a big-money match. A WWE legend has some major advice for the AEW boss on how to finalize a marquee match between Punk and The Elite.
Tony Khan should adopt a straightforward approach
In the recent episode of Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru podcast, the 61-year-old’s co-host Brian Last bashed Tony Khan for being a silent figure. In his opinion, Khan should’ve taken the lead from the beginning, when the backstage brawl happened a few months ago.

He admitted that people who claim it was Punk’s fault or The Elite’s fault have the wrong perspective. Last blamed the AEW boss for all the things that happened in the past and for the former two-time AEW Champion’s departure.
Cornette, after listening to Last’s opinion, gave his take on the same. The former WWE official said, “He can say you blithering simpletons, I’m paying this guy a fortune. He said he’ll work with you. You don’t wanna work with him, f**k you. I won’t pay you anymore because he drew me more money than you ever have.”
This is not the first time anyone has blamed Khan for the backstage problems caused in AEW. Last year fans slammed the 40-year-old over the physical altercation that took place between Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo.
Nevertheless, with the Wembley Arena show being finalized in the United Kingdom, Khan might need the ‘Best in the World’ in a match. Punk was out because of an injury and reportedly is ready to come back.
The 44-year-old’s AEW debut was a monumental moment in the history of professional wrestling. Therefore, Khan knows the impotence of Punk in AEW and he will try to make amends for the former WWE star to return. Another famed wrestling personality offered his whole take on the situation and challenged Khan to book an unlikely match.
