WWE 2K24 launches in a few days, but the wrestling company’s real-life legal troubles have raised questions about the game. CEO Vince McMahon was named in a lawsuit filed by a former WWE employee over allegations of sexual misconduct, and subsequent reports also implicated in-ring talent Brock Lesnar. The question of whether the two individuals were playable characters in WWE 2K24 had become a hot topic.

And while they won’t be part of the main roster, they’re not entirely absent from the game. 2K shared the official WWE 2K24 roster and, after much speculation, confirmed that McMahon and Lesnar will not be in the game’s lineup of over 200 playable characters. However, modders do find a way to break into the game and retrieve deleted data. So were they able to bring back Lesnar and McMahon?

Recently on X, WWE 2K24 content creator @WhatsTheStatus revealed the fate of Brock Lesnar and McMahon in WWE 2K24. Fans were eager to find out if modders would be able to bring back data and make the two playable. However, the content creator has revealed that it cannot be done. He tweeted, “Lets get that Brock Lesnar bs out the way. Brock Lesnar has a MyRise Block. You cannot unlock him in MyRise Brock Lesnar is Content Damaged. You cannot Download him. Stop asking me Back to regular programing.”

Well, it seems like gamers would not be able to access the characters. But they still got over 200 other playable characters to use in the game. And while the Beast and the former Chairman of the WWE are out of the list of playable characters, there’s still a way the two might make appearances in the game.

Video game reviewers ‘Gamespot’ revealed a few days ago that WWE 2K24 might feature characters who are not playable but are important in the in-game scenarios. Gamespot believes that the Lesnar vs. WrestleMania 30’s Undertaker will continue to appear in WWE 2K24. Lesnar’s 2014 match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30, in which Lesnar ended his opponent’s winning streak at WrestleMania after a record-breaking 21-0 start, was expected to appear at 2K24 but has yet to be officially announced.

This match remains one of the most famous in WWE history, but it wasn’t included in the show’s Showcase mode 10 years ago when 2K first focused the experience on the best matches at WrestleMania simply because the match took place a few months ago back during the production of 2k14.

Given that 2K returns to this concept for the first time in a decade with 2K24, it stands to reason that this match is one of several that players can play in Showcase mode. A different match already confirmed for the Showcase mode is Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock at WrestleMania 17, which included an appearance by Vince McMahon, so it’s likely that this sequence will play out in the game as well. What do you think? Will we get to see the two in 2k24? Let us know in the comments.
