Brock Lesnar turned some heads when he made the jump from WWE to the UFC. Although, MMA fighters had stints in pro wrestling, it was rare to see someone go the other way round. There were a lot of skeptics about a pro wrestling guy coming to the ‘real’ world of MMA. But ‘The Beast’ proved people wrong and won the Heavyweight title in UFC, thereby cementing his credibility. Despite this, it seems he didn’t earn the respect of everyone. A MMA legend once lashed out at Lesnar in an unhinged interview.
Don Frye, who usually doesn’t hold back in interviews, spoke about Lesnar, after he left UFC, to go back to WWE.

He questioned Lesnar’s ability and his wins over the likes of Frank Mir, and Randy Couture. The MMA fighter also took other jabs at Lesnar.
Frye raised doubts over Brock Lesnar beating Couture and Frank Mir
Brock Lesnar made an immediate impact in UFC when he beat Randy Couture for the UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 91. He then defended the title successfully against Frank Mir at UFC 100. Mir had earlier beaten Lesnar when he made his UFC debut in 2008.
‘The Beast Incarnate’ further went on to defeat Shane Carwin at UFC 116, to unify the heavyweight titles and become the Undisputed UFC Heavyweight Champion. All this came between his battle with diverticulitis, an intestinal disorder. Many people praised Lesnar for his courage and he earned the respect of many of his peers during his UFC tenure.

However, Don Frye, a UFC legend in his own right, wasn’t impressed. In an interview during the 2013 Arnold Classic, Frye managed to grab some headlines. He took shots at Lesnar and cast doubts over Lesnar’s wins against Frank Mir and Randy Couture. He said, “The guy’s a waste of flesh. I’ve never met such an a**hole in my life.”

Frye met Lesnar through Brad Rheingans, a professional wrestling mentor, but didn’t like him at all. He said, “I’ve had a couple of dinners with Lesnar, had a couple of drinks with him, and I found him to be a complete a**hole.”
Frye has in the past also spoken harshly about Dan Henderson, and UFC President, Dana White, as well. In this case, his outburst about the former WWE Champion could possibly be due to the success he had in a relatively short span of time.
Brock Lesnar was a massive draw for UFC while he was there. ‘The Cowboy’ also earned over $4 million from his eight-year spell in the Octagon. This surely would’ve made many UFC fighters envious of seeing a WWE guy rake up this much money.

Frye is entitled to his opinion, but Lesnar’s success in the UFC cemented his stature as one of the best athletes of the modern era. The fact that he transitioned from amateur wrestling to pro wrestling and then to MMA while being successful at every step is a testament to his greatness.
