WWE rarely moves out of its comfort zone when it comes to major PPVs. However, the creative team took two steps forward on the road to Extreme Rules 2016 when Dean Ambrose introduced the Ambrose Asylum to the WWE Universe.

The structure was an add-on to the reaction Hell in a cell steel cage, but with a bit of a bizarre twist. On top of the structure, there were a number of objects suspended which could be accessed only after climbing the supposedly rusty steel of the cage.

A fire extinguisher, a straight jacket, a plant pot, kendo stick, and a wooden plank covered with barbed wires were just some of the atrocities hanging atop the cell in this structure.

WWE fans got to witness this atrocity on the May 16, 2016 episode of Raw. Dean Ambrose, locked in a feud with Chris Jericho, challenged the WWE legend to a huge fight at Extreme Rules inside his malicious creation.

Jericho reluctantly agreed and the stage was set for the huge match. The structure was designed as such that the only way to escape was defeating your opponent. There was no way out, unlike the Steel Cage fight, and one truly had to face his demons inside the Ambrose Asylum. ‘

The real show began when Ambrose began reaching for the objects on top. His opponent soon learned of the use of them and reached out for them on the other side.

As the match reached the very top of the cell, Jericho caught Ambrose hard on the face with a wooden plank. He then delivered a blow to the back of the downed Superstar, who fell to the floor of the ring.

Jericho, cunning as ever, outsmarted Ambrose at every turn and started beating the former WWE Champion at his own game. Y2J used the straight jacket to his advantage to blind his foe in order to execute a huge signature move that bought him valuable time to recover.

Jericho screamed in pain as the pins punctured his back. Mercilessly, Ambrose took advantage of the moment and delivered his finisher Dirty Deeds to Jericho, sending him face-first into the thumbtacks.

Dean Ambrose pinned a deflated Jericho, who was probably in too much pain to know what was happening. He walked out of the Asylum alive but unlike most patients, crazier than ever before.
