Tonight’s SmackDown will be etched in the memories of wrestling buffs as one of the most entertaining and surprising blue brand shows ever. To everyone’s shock, Dwyane ‘The Rock’ Johnson returned to the fold to dismantle Austin Theory. The next cynosure was obviously the 16-time world champion John Cena facing Grayson Waller from the hot seat of ‘Grayson Waller Effect’ prior to teaming up with old foe AJ Styles to thwart the unified power of Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa.

But no matter what, Cena couldn’t really escape the sharp roasting tongue of the Waller. Waller rubbed Cena out and out during and before the show as expected. One of his weapons surprisingly stems from Cena’s own rap song released in 2005.

Grayson Waller started trading barbs with The Champ at Money in The Bank 2023, only to be leveled by Cena afterward. They haven’t met ever since until now. However, before the much hyped-up talk show took over, Waller was seen mocking the 16-time WWE World Championship with one of his popular game soundtracks, “Bad Man” released in 2005.

WWE’s official video showed the Australian star making an entrance in the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado in an old-school Cena jersey humming his all-time hit track.

He also poked fun at Cena’s iconic catchphrase. The starlet noted, ”The Goat on the show. And I have had such a positive week. You know I am following the words of John Cena. So forever I am watching tonight. It’s going to be a big show and always give up.” This was clearly a shot at Cena’s popular motivating catchphrase, “Never Give Up”.

The roasting continued throughout the show, but Cena stood tall at the end, adding weight to his GOAT status.

Moving ahead, Waller himself also deep down believes in John Cena’s unparalleled legacy and termed their last encounter as surreal.

Despite not being a fan, Grayson Waller had massive respect for John Cena

Grayson Waller has had the fortune of sharing the ring with Cena at the Money in The Bank PLE. Although he was featured in having a heated confrontation with the legendary veteran, away from the realm of kayfabe, Waller felt special being in the same ring as ‘The Franchise Player.’

Recalling the big break that knocked on his door in July, the SmackDown newbie confessed that the moment was surreal for him. It was really a big deal for him to come across Cena in the same ring. However, the Australian native also made it clear that he’s not a person to worship Cena as a fan, but he’s there to learn through going against him.

Now, it remains to be seen when and where the duo again cross paths with each other in the ring down the line. But whenever they do, it will be a treat for the fans as Cena’s class perfectly blends with Waller’s high-headed spirit in the ring.
