Brock Lesnar, in his autobiography, Death Clutch, has stated his urge to leave the WWE lifestyle made him impatient. Vince McMahon approved Lesnar’s WWE resignation and all he wanted to do was sign a release agreement.
However, Lesnar did a major mistake signing it before his lawyers reverted him with their comment. Mr. McMahon had made a different release contract for Lesnar, which stated a no-compete clause for making no appearances at any wrestling, ultimate fighting, or “sports entertainment” companies, anywhere in the world, until mid-2010.
Lesnar wrote, “So before my attorney even had a chance to comment, I signed Vince’s release. I thought it would be quick and easy.”
The former UFC fighter didn’t want the hassle of his lawyers negotiating the agreement. He just wanted out of Vince McMahon’s company. Lesnar has also noted how he could have gone to TNA and earned paychecks, but he screwed his life by signing the agreement without reading it.
It cost The Beast nearly a fortune to fight back with WWE over the agreement. However, he stated this fight was for something valuable. Lesnar wrote, “But that’s in the past, and I won my freedom. I have my family. I love my life. I don’t walk around thinking about it. It’s the past. That part of my life is over.”
