Former WWE Superstar Christian made a return to Monday Night Raw, as the host of The Peep Show. He had finally reunited with his lifelong friend Edge, ahead of his matchup with Randy Orton at Backlash, this Sunday.

The match has been touted as ‘The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever’, putting the two performers under a bit of pressure at least.

Christian has a long and storied history with Edge. The two entered into the world of pro-wrestling together, as a tag-team. They saw major success outside the WWE, and even took their team forward during the early 2000s.

Christian is one of Edge’s closest friends and made that clear, in a brutally honest speech he made to his former tag-team partner.

Christian Calls out an aging Edge?

Edge was noticeably surprised by his lifelong friend coming after him for his actions. Christian openly undermined his friend’s ability to put up a good show at Backlash.

“I have to be honest with you. Right now, at this point, I think you’re running on fumes. The greatest wrestling match ever? I don’t think you could even pull that off in your prime.”

The former World Heavyweight Champion railed ar Edge, for not being the shape or mental state to live up to the ‘Greatest Match Ever’.

“We’re best friends, and we have to be brutally honest with each other, am I right? Those are some high, lofty expectations. If you think for one second you can live up to that, you’re lying to yourself”

Christian stated that he had no confidence in Edge performing well against Randy Orton, that he would be going up against a veteran who hadn’t retired for 9 years. “You’re starting to buckle, and I don’t think you can handle the pressure, Edge”

Edge, clearly agitated, burst out in the ring, giving fans a look into his mindset before the match at Backlash. “Have you thought what it’s like to be in my shoes right now? It’s the equivalent of being dropped at the bottom of Mount Everest. You’ve got no crew, no gear, so climb. Go!”

He stated that he hadn’t been the same Superstar he was when he initially retired last decade. “So pardon me if this Edge is different, if this Edge has some self-doubt. This isn’t the same Edge.”

Christian seems to have inspired Edge to fight hard at Backlash. Even though it may not be ‘The Greatest Match Ever’, we can be sure to see an exciting fight come Sunday.
