Cody Rhodes happens to be one of the biggest stars in WWE history. Dawning his The American Nightmare persona, he has attained both love and respect all around. His status as a top babyface has paved the way for several opportunities for the star to reciprocate the love. Wrestling fans know the superstar for his philanthropic endeavors. Recently, WWE auctioned a memorabilia owned by Rhodes. However, it fetched a price that left the 38-year-old star in shock.
Cody Rhodes’ robe up for auction
WWE decided to auction a robe worn by Cody Rhodes. He had previously adorned the robe and had also autographed it. The proceeds from the auction of the robe would go to The Connor’s Cure and The V Foundation. Connor’s Cure is a non-profit charitable organization for pediatric cancer research. The organisation has its roots in WWE as Paul Levesque and Stephanie McMahon founded it.

An 8-year-old fan of WWE Connor Michalek passed away after losing his battle with cancer in 2014. WWE named the organization after him and supports children who suffer from cancer. WWE has been supporting the noble cause of fighting pediatric cancer. Since then, numerous auctions have taken place in the past to raise money. This included auctioning a replica of the Championship Title signed by Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. Suits worn by Seth Rollins have also gone up for auction in the past in order to raise money for the organization.

A robe worn by Rhodes on The Night of Champions in Jeddah was auctioned by WWE. The final bid for the robe was $ 46,700. After seeing these numbers, the star was left in shock. He took to X (former Twitter) to share his shock. He said, “Amazing 46,700 dollars $46.7k for this robe! All benefits going to Connor’s Cure & @TheVFoundation”. This implies that the star was underestimating his star power. Later on, humbly, Rhodes thanked everyone who had contributed and donated to the organization.
Cody Rhodes’ reaction to the bid shows the humble side of the star This is not the first time he donated to a noble cause. In 2017, he auctioned his boots to raise money for a charity that looks after stray dogs. In 2020, he launched his “American Nightmare” line of t-shirts. The money raised from this was donated to Covid-19 relief funds.
