Cody Rhodes Reflects on His “Goodbye” to AEW 2 Years Later

Cody Rhodes has jumped ships several times to find his true potential in the wrestling industry. Before coming back to WWE, he spent a considerable amount of time in AEW, founding WWE’s biggest competitor since WCW. Today, two years ago, Rhodes cut his final promo in front of an AEW audience. When a fan page posted the video and explained the iconic context, Rhodes found it necessary to share his thoughts on the same.

The promo took place a few days before Rhodes’ title bout against Sammy Guevara AEW Dynamite ‘Beach Break’. Looking back at the moment, we witnessed how he talked about so many wrestlers, called out WWE, and laid the foundation for his catchphrase, “What do you guys wanna talk about?

“The American Nightmare” reposted the tweet and wrote, “I’ll always feel privileged that I got to say goodbye with these words and the match that followed. Very fun/wild crowd and a fond memory.

He cherishes the memory of the promo and the match that followed even after two years since he departed from the promotion. Rhodes believes that it was the best possible ‘goodbye’ to the promotion and its fans. Although it has been a long time since he abandoned his EVP post at AEW, he still remembers the best parts of the experience.

More recent incidents tell us that Rhodes doesn’t mind keeping himself and his fans grounded about the fact that he served a good time in AEW. Recently, the wrestler posted on social media when he reunited with a friend from Tony Khan’s promotion.

Even after Rhodes left AEW, he didn’t shy away from telling the world that he was still in touch with the late wrestler’s family.
