A wrestler’s life looks pretty glamorous from the outside, but it might not be the case always. Being humans, they are also susceptible to different emotions, like regular folks. Cody Rhodes, who created history at Royal Rumble 2023, recently shared an example of this.
As we all know, with stardom comes a lot of responsibilities and some sacrifices as well. One has to go through all of it as it’s a part of life. Similarly, Cody suffered the drawbacks of his triumphant return to WWE at WrestleMania 38. Things then felt bitter, and he started feeling alone at times. This ended up making him feel that the past was much better than the present. However, Rhodes spoke about those dreadful days unabashedly.

During his conversation with Corey Graves on his “WWE After The Bell” podcast, The American Nightmare poured his heart out. Not only did he share feeling lonely even after becoming a big name, but he also described one instance when the feeling was amplified.

So, once before his injury, he saw Otis and Gable getting into an SUV along with two pretty girls. It looked like there were having the best time of their life. Watching this, Rhodes thought of asking them if they want to come on his bus. To be specific here, the bus that he had, separates him from the rest of the WWE superstars as the company provides it to the top stars.

Cody then said, “So you know, like there’s, you know, I got a fridge and like, there’s TV and stuff like that and they just nice kindly like, oh yeah, you know, we don’t want to impose got in the car and drove away and then I sauntered on to my bus alone and thought like, oh, I wish I could be.”
This wasn’t the only instance when the Triple Crown Champion felt awful. During his first run in WWE, another incident affected his mental health as well.

In the same podcast, Rhodes candidly shared what a well-known star usually tries to keep within himself. He talked about how he felt annoyed seeing John Cena and The Rock tell their story to everyone, being the popular stars, while it frustrated him with the lack of push he received from the company.
Rhodes said, “I just got so tired of seeing their dang faces, and I love John.” The Prince of Pro Wrestling then talked about his frustration and how he once threw a glass bottle at a bus against “Dwayne Johnson’s beautiful face”.
