Despite Fans Questioning His Own Abilities, Dwayne Johnson Once Savagely Critiqued John Cena for His Early Acting Gig: “Illegal Torture”

Whenever someone mentions WWE, John Cena, and Dwayne Johnson are among those names that surely pop up in mind. Both superstars have carved their separate niches in the world of professional wrestling. Moreover, both Cena and Johnson are among those few wrestlers who have earned goodwill in the Hollywood industry as well.

WWE fans have trolled The Rock several times when it comes to acting. However, there was a time when Dwayne Johnson brutally trolled John Cena, in front of thousands of people calling his debut movie an ‘Illegal torture’.

During the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in 2018, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson appeared to announce the Hall of Famer induction of his father, Rocky Johnson. There, he brought his sarcastic side out and pointed it toward John Cena.

The Rock jokingly said that there was a big controversy that revolved around WWE. He suggested there were rumors that the company captured the Iraqi insurgents and tortured them by forcing them to watch ‘The Marine’, which was the first-ever movie of the 16-time WWE world champion John Cena.

While addressing the audience, Dwayne said, “Unfortunately, though there was some trouble this year, there was big controversy with the WWE and illegal torture. I don’t know if you heard about it, not too many people heard about it, but apparently, they would find Iraqi insurgents, they’d sit them down, they’d tie them up, and they’d make them watch copies of the DVD, The Marine.”

Just as Dwayne poked the fun, the camera pointed towards the ‘Cenation Leader’. He took the joke very maturely and gave some hilarious expressions. John even bowed to The Rock, and in response, he winked. This made the entire scenario even more amusing. The fans even started to cheer for both superstars.

John Cena and Dwayne Johnson have faced each other twice inside the squared circle. Firstly WWE booked them to compete at WrestleMania 28 where The Rock emerged out to be victorious. A year later, at WrestleMania 29, they ran it back, but this time, Cena emerged victorious.

There is no comparison between them both. Dwayne rocked the attitude era while John Cena was the face of WWE during the PG era. And currently, these two superstars are the most awaited ones for WrestleMania 39. However, WWE has not announced their return officially, but still fans are hoping for their comeback at the biggest event of the WWE this year.
