At the start of 2022, Cody Rhodes took fans by surprise by leaving AEW, the company he helped build. This step brought him back to WWE at WrestleMania 38. In a span of just two years, he has reached the status of the most prominent superstar on the roster after defeating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL. Thus becoming the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. But what if we tell you that his brother Dustin Rhodes too can be brought back into the WWE, and that too before Backlash? That is what a former WWE superstar thinks could happen.

Dustin Rhodes to be a part of Cody Rhodes’ storyline

AJ Styles earned a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship on Friday Night SmackDown. ‘The Phenomenal One’ defeated LA Knight on the blue brand, thus avenging his loss to ‘The Megastar’ at WrestleMania XL. While also becoming Cody Rhodes’ first opponent for the brand’s top title. But it is still a very cold storyline to feature a title change.

So Ryback believes that the WWE can bring in Dustin Rhodes to make the fight more personal for the American Nightmare. He said, “Now all of a sudden we have a cold matchup with AJ Styles, who’s now gonna be the number one contender. And there’s no real, there’s no story at all. But then they have a quick turnaround time to this pay-per-view. So it’s going to be, now we’re just going to rely on them going out and having a good match you know. That’s unless you these stories of AJ Styles attacking Dustin Rhodes.”

He further added, “I think that might be something down the line if Dustin, Goldust, his contract, and he, but you need spice on the story.” Rhodes will put the title on the line for the first time since winning gold at WrestleMania XL. Now he will have to face a number of opponents before he can main event another WrestleMania. But for that, he has to be in top shape. But his recent match with Carmelo Hayes on SmackDown signaled otherwise as he appeared to face some discomfort in one of his shoulders. So, is he a match fit for Backlash?
