Dwayne Johnson Set to Star in Sequel After $474 Million Windfall; Release Targeted for 2024

Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, is one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. Johnson is currently ranked among one of the top earners in the movie industry and has several successful movies to his name. Johnson is also an active part of the DCEU and the DC Studios.

After starting in WWE and making a name there, he quickly moved to Hollywood. His upcoming movie, the much-hyped ‘Black Adam’, is about to hit the theatres in October and has already created massive hype.

Recently, even the 2015 film, starring The Rock and Alexandra Daddario, ‘San Andreas’, was in the news. It was rumored for a long time, that the disaster film would get a sequel to it. And, now, according to GiantFreakinRobot, a sequel is confirmed.

Apart from shooting different movies, The Rock also manages various businesses of his own. The Rock is one of the busiest men in the industry; he has now though found time to confirm the film, San Andreas 2. The film was a disaster film, which depicted an earthquake that hit San Francisco. It follows the story of Raymond Gaines, played by The Rock who is on the mission of saving his ex-wife and daughter from the destruction.

The first film earned a massive amount of $474 million and was a huge hit. The second film will supposedly follow the story of Gaines and his family from where they left off in the first film. The film had a star-studded cast consisting of Dwayne Johnson, Alexandra Daddario, Carla Gugino, Paul Giamatti, Ioan Gruffudd, and more.

The critics did not really give great reviews to the film, which also has a poor score of 48% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, its box-office success led to the sequel.

San Andreas 2 does not have a confirmed release date yet, but reports suggest that it might come out in the year 2024.

Dwayne Johnson made sure Shazam! did not feature Black Adam in the film

Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson is about to hit the theatres in October. The film has already created a buzz owing to the controversial statements made by The Rock. The Brahma Bull was already at the receiving end of a lot of negative comments after he associated himself with the DCEU.

Reports suggest that Black Adam would have made his first appearance in the film, Shazam! But it was Dwayne Johnson himself who stopped it from happening. Dwayne Johnson said, “Now that was the goal — so it wasn’t a complete surprise. But when I read that, I just knew in my gut, ‘We can’t make this movie like this. We would be doing Black Adam an incredible disservice”.

Reports also suggest that it was Dwayne Johnson who persuaded the makers into turning Shazam! into a solo film of its own. Black Adam is about to hit the theatres on October 21, 2022.
