When Dwayne Johnson started his journey in WWE, it didn’t go the way he thought. There was a backlash from the fans and even he was almost out of money, according to his famous seven-bucks story. But that didn’t make him an arrogant person, but rather one of the best colleagues to other WWE superstars. Recently, a former WWE star shared his first experience of meeting The Rock.

The wrestling legend, who is currently an AEW wrestler, joined WWE in the late 90s. This was the same time Johnson was Rocky Maivia. The AEW star shared how well DJ had treated him and Jeff Hardy.

Speaking on his podcast The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the former WWE star recalled he wasn’t aware of The Rock’s huge Samoan legacy. However, slowly he got to know about it and also shared his initial impression of The Great One.

Hardy said, “But there was a point when we were going to state college and we were driving around. We weren’t sure where the building was. We pulled up to a stoplight and he was there like, ‘Hey what’s going on Hardys? How are you doing? How you’re doing Subzero?’ That was Marty before the champagne. He said follow me.”

He added, “He said, ‘I know where I’m going and said I’ve been here before.’ That’s one of our first interactions with him and we’re like, ‘What a cool dude!’. He stopped, rolled down his window and made sure we are okay and we know where we are going. He was like, ‘Just follow me, I’ll take you there’. And he made sure we got through the gate. So that left a huge impression on us right from the jump.”

Clearly, DJ left a mark on The Hardy Boyz that day as one of the nicest people in the room. Since they sometimes faced difficulties in entering arenas, The Rock made sure the security guard let them in hassle-free.

Why did The Rock have to inform the security guard to let The Hardy Boyz in?

In the same conversation, Hardy shared that DJ specifically told the guards to let them in the arena. There was a reason The Brahma Bull had to do so.

While sharing the experience of meeting The Rock for the first time, Matt recalled he and Jeff Hardy sometimes got into trouble to enter arenas. This was because they weren’t a household name as they were wrestling in WWE when required rather than being on contract.

The Jumanji star after properly guiding them to the arena, made sure they got in without any issues. Clearly, this gesture made the young Hardys glad, and they had a great first experience of meeting The People’s Champion.
