On the WWE Raw Day 1 episode, Dwayne Johnson left fans on a cliffhanger when he dropped a not-so-subtle-hint at a possible feud with Roman Reigns. However, little did the fans know that their prayers would be answered. Weeks after that, fans saw him returning at the February 2, 2024 episode of SmackDown where he stood right in front of Reigns brewing a possible future fight.

But it looks like the creatives at WWE are making sure that this rivalry blows the roof as they have decided to bring on board Johnson’s Attitude Era colleague who has contributed to many memorable storylines in the past.

According to reports by PW Insider, former WWE writer from the Attitude Era, Brian Gewirtz will be returning to the company after 9 years. Gerwitz, who is now an important part of Seven Bucks Productions, will have creative control over The Brahma Bull‘s story as he feuds with Roman Reigns. The former WWE writer was one of the longest-tenured writers at the company. He started working with WWE back in 1999 and left in 2015 to join Johnson’s production company.

One more thing that is interesting to know is that Gewirtz will be physically present on the set for a majority of WWE shows. Many believe that this might be Endeavor’s  ‘plan b‘, just in case the company wants to change the direction of WWE and might want to go with a creative team backed by Johnson.

Gewirtz is known for his creative genius, especially with his segments during the Attitude Era. The famous “This is Your Life” segment that involved Johnson and Mick Foley was his brainchild and is one of the most important segments in the history of Monday Night Raw.

While it looks like WWE and the TKO Group are gearing up for one of the biggest fights in the history of WWE, it looks like fans are not that excited about it.

On Friday night, fans saw the 2024 Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes welcome Dwayne Johnson on SmackDown. It was also revealed that instead of Rhodes, Johnson will be feuding against The Tribal Chief. This unexpected twist in the storyline has left fans sour, with most of them feeling sorry for The American Nightmare.

While one fan claimed it to be an awful move from WWE’s end, another stated that this had killed “Cody’s (Rhodes) momentum.” All in all, it looks like fans are not happy with this update in the storyline. This was proven even further when WWE uploaded the segment with The Rock vs Roman Reigns, with the dislike hitting 360,000 dislikes just 16 hours after being posted.

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let?s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
