However, according to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, this is all because of him. While many WWE fans will agree with the statement thanks to his heel turn and subsequent promos, Johnson claims there is more. Taking to social media ahead of his appearance on WWE RAW, he had some select choice of words.

Dwayne Johnson takes credit for making wrestling cool again and being one of the hottest heels ever

Johnson took to Instagram and posted a promotional video for his upcoming WWE RAW appearance. This was captioned with,“The Rock has made pro wrestling unpredictable and he’s changed the game and raised the bar – again.” This was a reference to his heel turn, which, while predictable, did stun fans when he slapped Cody Rhodes. The feud has led to one of the most popular rivalries in the history of the promotion. While Rhodes is facing Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Title, The Rock’s involvement has resulted in sold-out arenas and more attention to the feud.

Embracing his heel persona completely, Johnson is taking credit for making professional wrestling feel fresh again, which makes sense. While he is part of the WWE, he is also a member of the Board of Directors on TKO. This gives him power over the WWE.

This took a shape in itself with the Hollywood star initiating a rivalry with a noted wrestling journalist.

The Rock’s beef with Dave Meltzer

Dave Meltzer posted his opinion on social media about profanity in The Rock’s promos. He said Johnson’s disregard of the guidelines reminded him of the Vince McMahon era of the WWE. Only McMahon’s favorite stars could do what they wanted during this time. Meanwhile, other talents would have to follow the rules or be terminated.

This resulted in Johnson commenting that the story was “Horses**t.” The Rock made it clear that he was the boss and could do anything.
