When it comes to pro wrestlers, it’s not just titles and championship belts that matter. Praise and respect from veterans is something that a lot of them look forward to. Recently, John Cena complimented a WWE star for his persistence and tenacity.

Before The Defiant One’s big match against The Miz in the WWE Payback, John Cena had a lot to say about LA Knight.

During a backstage interview, Cena was asked about his predictions for the upcoming The Miz vs. LA Knight showdown at the upcoming WWE Payback. To this, John Cena replied, “That’s a tough call,” further adding that he has tremendous respect for both The Miz and LA Knight.

“As I have said, I have a lot of respect for Miz. I think he is one of the most underrated WWE stars in history. But I also have a tremendous amount of respect for LA Knight because his trajectory is that of persistence,” implying the fact that Cena has been closely following Knight’s journey through WWE.

He went on to praise the Knight’s ability to never give up. “You wanna talk about somebody never giving up, I have it on a shirt and I try to live it every day, he walks that talk and he does it with his own style,” he said. This underlines the fact that according to John Cena, LA Knight does justice to The Champ’s iconic catchphrase. He’s not afraid to be who he is in here [in his heart] and speaking from someone who started as the Doctor of Thuganomics, I have a lot of respect for that,” Cena concluded, expressing the amount of admiration and respect he has for LA Knight and for his journey.

With the big showdown coming up at PPG Paints Arena, the home of the Pittsburgh Penguins, fans are wondering what this face-off could mean for both The Miz and LA Knight.

What’s next for The Knight

LA Knight’s journey has been bullish as for now, with the wrestling making his way up on the charts. With a victory at the SummerSlam Slim Jim Battle Royal earlier this year, a win at Payback will mean he was able to secure two wins at WWE Premium Live Events in a single year.

Knight has been successfully building his momentum while being at odds with The Miz. The Miz maintains his superiority as the champion of the elimination chamber, a two-time Grand Slam Champion, and with numerous other titles to his name. He’s got nothing to prove to his fans. With just two titles to his name, Knight still has a long journey for him to go.

Will LA Knight be able to make his way to the main roster, even if he loses this face-off? We’ll have to wait for the story to unfold on the 2nd of September at the WWE Payback event.
