There are only a few wrestlers who don’t mince their words in interviews or promos. Gunther is one of these wrestlers, who isn’t afraid to put out his honest reactions in interviews. When we asked him about Drew McIntyre, he wasn’t thrilled. This didn’t go well with his SummerSlam opponent as well, who definitely had a lot to say about the current Intercontinental Champion.

After Gunther rejected talking about him, Drew McIntyre had words for him

During the press conference for the Superstar Spectacle event in India, Gunther was asked about his SummerSlam opponent, Drew McIntyre, but he casually replied that he didn’t like him and didn’t want to talk about him. When we asked McIntyre about his opinion on Gunther’s response to talking about the former WWE champion, the ‘Chosen One’ was shocked.

He replied, How dare he? After that hard-hitting match at SummerSlam where he got the victory, I have to give him credit. Not many people pinned Drew McIntyre straight up. On that top rope, he saw that opportunity and botched me. Hit all his moves back to back, and he got the victory. I give him the credit.

Having pinned McIntyre twice in a WWE ring, once at WrestleMania and at SummerSlam has definitely decreased fans’ opinion on McIntyre’s current run in the WWE. This has led many to speculate if the Scottish Psychopath will be able to reach the same heights when he was the WWE champion in 2020.

Drew McIntyre’s current WWE trajectory

Throughout the year, we have seen McIntyre involved in feuds involving Gunther and Sheamus. While this wasn’t the worst-case scenario for him it was a downgrade from his position last year, where he was competing for the world title against Roman Reigns, and even came very close, until Solo Sikoa debuted and cost him the opportunity. But that was a long time ago. Since then, we haven’t seen McIntyre compete at the same level.

Before his comeback at Money in the Bank, many thought that McIntyre was bound for AEW. But he shocked everyone with his return and subsequent hard-hitting feud with Gunther. Now, McIntyre is involved with Matt Riddle in a tag team and only time will tell how this partnership launches McIntyre into the main event scene once again.
