John Cena is among the most popular stars ever produced by the WWE. Despite being from a rival company, you even hear his name taken on AEW. This recent name-drop of the former 16-time WWE Champion was followed by a funny exchange by the commentators.

They made this Cena namedrop all the better when, just days ago, Cena name-dropped an AEW personnel.

The name drop happened during the Hikaru Shida vs. Willow Nightingale for the AEW Women’s World Championship. While the match was going on as usual, the ringside announcers had to announce the latest episode of Wipeout. And can you guess who the guest star is gonna be?

“And fans, John Cena and Nicole Byer host your favorite fail show. Watch an all-new episode of Wipeout,” Excalibur said. While the announcement itself was nothing noteworthy, Tazz’s reaction was. Upon hearing this, the former WWE star said, “I know that guy.”

To this co-ring announcer, Excalibur said, “His name is John Cena.” This hilarious back-and-forth comes just days after Tazz’s name was dropped on SmackDown. Moments like these are what the WWE universe loves to hear. Does the staff have the same animosity for the rival business as the bosses do? However, the Tazz namedrop on SmackDown was a bit more insulting.

John Cena compares Solo Sikoa to Tazz

During the last episode of SmackDown, Cena got into a verbal confrontation with Sikoa and Paul Heyman. During this, Cena gave one of his passion-filled rants about Sikoa. This included a comparison to a well-known 2000s-era WWE star, Tazz. Despite not working in the WWE for long, Tazz earned a reputation for being a powerhouse in the ring. Similarly, Sikoa has gained the same reputation.

“You are nothing but a bargain-basement Taz ripoff,” Cena said to Sikoa. This got a massive pop from the fans. Cena will be facing Sikoa at Crown Jewel to end his infamous 2,000-day losing streak.
