There is no other wrestler more hated by his fellow wrestlers than Hulk Hogan. The Hulkster has earned this place by doing a lot of things on and off screen and backstage as well.

But as we moved to the modern generation, Hogan has pleaded his case and apologized for most of his deeds during his reign as the top dog in WWE.

But there were some things that Hogan was blamed for, but he had no business in. One of these moments was when he wrestled in 2006 at SummerSlam.

Hogan was blamed for the match being so poor and uninteresting, but his opponent made it clear in 2014 that the real story was wildly different.

WWE legend once revealed the truth about his match with Hulk Hogan

While attending a Q&A in Manchester, Shawn Michaels revealed some details about his match against Hulk Hogan.

He said, “We were going to do a best of three, and in the last minute, [Hogan] backed out. So that day, and I will admit this- I poked the bear all day. I already knew what I was gonna do — I was gonna go out there and do business, but I was gonna make him earn it, just to be a pain in the butt all day. And that was something I did just for my own enjoyment. It wasn’t right; it wasn’t professional.

That match between two of the biggest legends was supposed to be great. But because of his professionalism and Hogan’s ego, the final product came out horrendous. Both the men were trying their hardest to put a close to the match.

The overselling by Michaels and his punches made this match one of the gold mines in terms of meme culture. While the live audience might have hated them for it, Michaels and Hogan are legends in the meme culture’s eyes.

Even with the real story out, Hogan has wronged way too many times in the wrestling industry to be forgiven. But being the kind person he is, Vince McMahon gave the man a third chance to work with WWE.

Currently Michaels is working as the Head of Creative for WWE NXT, while Hogan pops here and there in WWE and other wrestling promotions.
