A monumental clash between Roman Reigns and Dwayne Johnson at WrestleMania 39 was on the wishlists of many fans. Instead, what everyone got is an upcoming battle of supremacy between ‘The Tribal Chief’ and Cody Rhodes.

The main event of ‘The Showcase of Immortals’ is still a mouth-watering spectacle. However, a tussle between the famed Anoa’i family would have had its own share of the audience. Sadly, the family clash could not materialize. And Paul Heyman, who serves as a manager to Reigns, recently expressed his views on the matter.

The Wise Man recently interacted with Sports Illustrated. He detailed why the blockbuster match did not happen at ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All’. Heyman said, “ I always heard his name being thrown around, I couldn’t imagine with his schedule, with his promotional schedule. With the launch of the XFL, with all the projects that he has on his plate that he would be able to take the time to get back into what we would call ring shape”.

“I’m sure he has great cardio but cardio itself and cardio in the ring and being in ring shape are two completely different things.” added the WWE legend.

WWE Reportedly Makes Huge Changes in WrestleMania 39 as Dwayne Johnson Canceled His Potential Title Match With Roman Reigns

Nothing but absolute facts from Heyman here. Johnson is undoubtedly in his peak shape, but competing in the ring requires a higher level of fitness. And according to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that is indeed the case. The People’s Champ himself considered that he was not in the physical stage to compete at the Marquee event. His fans would know that he won’t step into the squared circle without being a hundred percent.

There were hints about the clash from last year

There were speculations doing rounds for almost a year. Easter eggs in the NBC show Young Rock also pointed to the fact. And this was enough for the rumor mill to go into a frenzy. But those expectations have unfortunately not come to fruition. Whether the WWE features a clash between the uncle-nephew duo in the future remains to be seen.

The fans might not have got the desired outcome when it comes to the main event. But as Paul Heyman stated that with a packed schedule, it was virtually impossible for Dwayne Johnson to return to the ring. Facing Roman Reigns requires full focus, which the wrestler-turned-actor could not ensure. Nevertheless, what’s on offer instead is supremely entertaining and fans can find solace in that.

Do you think Dwayne Johnson vs Roman Reigns will happen sometime in the future?
