John Cena Gives a “Realistic” Answer While Addressing His Retirement Rumors

If there is one name that all modern WWE fans love, it is John Cena. The 16-time World Champion has dazzled audiences repeatedly with his raw power and charm, and has even become a very successful actor with hit series like ‘Peacemaker’ to his credit. However, one question that has baffled fans for the past few years is whether Cena has retired from pro-wrestling.
During a Q&A session at Comic-Con Wales, Cena attempted to give a realistic answer regarding his retirement. “I’m not done in the ring, but I’m not certain that that’s in the cards,” said Cena, reflecting on his momentous career in the WWE. The Champ last fought during a non-televised match in Madison Square Garden. Teaming up with Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik, Cena emerged victorious over The Bloodline.

Is John Cena going to retire from the WWE?
Things did not go very well the last time Cena faced off in the ring for a title match. The 45-year-old Doctor of Thuganomics lost to the current WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, at SummerSlam 2021. Fans speculate that Cena’s loss kick-started his hiatus from professional wrestling.

When asked about retirement, Cena gave an introspective and realistic reply. “I know I’m not done in the ring, but I am realistic with where I’m at in my life, and I’m 45, and I can tell you from being a 16-time champion, it is very tough to win, and the top of that mountain is a young man’s game,” remarked Cena.

Prior to SummerSlam, Cena had been absent from regular WWE programming for over two years, since WrestleMania 36. He competed against Bray Wyatt and had conceded defeat during that appearance as well. Though there have been rumors of his return, it seems like the Champ is not in his best shape.

While it is easy to understand the Champ’s concerns, fans need not get worried about Cena’s retirement. Cena is all set to appear with Henry Cavill and Samuel L. Jackson in the spy thriller Argylle. With Season 2 of ‘Peacemaker’ also under production and his appearance in the next Fast and Furious movie, we have not seen the last of Cena yet.
