WWE Legend and Hollywood superstar, John Cena’s massive project with Warner Bros. was scrapped after filming was completed and the project was slated for release. The film ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ was scheduled to be released this year, but the production house decided to write it off instead of releasing it.

By writing off the movie, Warner Bros would save $30 million as a tax write-off and also save the expenses incurred on marketing and distribution of the movie. It was a decision taken after a careful evaluation of the hybrid live-action and animation movie that represented the iconic characters in a CGI format. But, the movie-makers have something to cheer about now.

Puck News has now reported that the movie will be available for distributors and platforms. The decision was taken after Warner Bros decided to nix the movie. However, the online backlash on the part of the animators and filmmakers forced the production to change their minds.

While scrapping the movie, one of the spokesperson said, “With the re-launch of Warner Bros. Pictures Animation in June, the studio has shifted its global strategy to focus on theatrical releases…With this new direction, we have made the difficult decision not to move forward with Coyote vs Acme. We have tremendous respect for the filmmakers, casts, and crew, and are grateful for their contributions to the film.

As expected, the production team of the movie was unhappy with the move. Director Dave Green and top producers were kept blindsided till the decision was finalized. However, it is not the first time Warner Bros has taken strict action against one of their products.

The second season of the infamous Batgirl series was dropped after one episode was aired. The move resulted in the production company losing $90 million of its cost only to save the money through tax-write-offs. Interestingly, other than the management, John Cena might have played a role in the scrapping of his movie at the box office.

John Cena’s involvement in other projects affected his movie

John Cena portrays the role of the big boss of the ACME corporation, a company against which Will E. Coyote files a case. The role makes Cena, the villain in the movie, but his presence in the movie Barbie turned out to be the actual villain for the movie.

The film was scheduled to release on July 12th of this year, but it contradicted the release date of the blockbuster movie Barbie. Cena plays one of the mermaid Kens in the movie, as a guest appearance. Though the decision to scrap the movie was taken earlier, a release would probably have meant more losses for Warner Bros.
