The first movie this year that fans saw John Cena in was ‘Fast X’. The movie is the fourth highest-grossing movie in Hollywood in 2023. So, naturally, it’s a huge win for John Cena. On top of that, the wrestler worked as a co-star in ‘Hidden Strike’ alongside Hollywood action-comedy Jackie Chan. The movie was also a hit as soon as it came out exclusively on Netflix.

Not resting much to celebrate the success of his movie, Cena announced another Hollywood project soon after ‘Hidden Strike’s release. In an Instagram post, Cena posted a video game picture of the comic character ‘Rocksteady’. Through this, he teased his appearance in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated movie called ‘TMNT: Mutant Mayhem’. The wrestler will be voicing the rhinoceros-humanoid villain.

He would voice another cartoon character in Looney Tunes’ upcoming live-action CGI film ‘Coyote vs Acme’. The Prototype is also set to be the lead role in the upcoming Hollywood film ‘Freelance’. Not to forget, the wrestler’s cameo in the blockbuster ‘Barbie’ movie.

Despite the perfect cards on John Cena’s table, the Hollywood star still faces some stiff competition on his road to becoming the highest-grossing actor of 2023.

Which actors can compete with Cena this year?

Chris Pratt has been doing well on his road to becoming the highest-grossing actor this year. The superstar was part of two of the highest-grossing movies this year so far. Apart from being ‘Star Lord’ in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’, Pratt also featured in the ‘Super Mario Bros’ movie as well. The collection adds up to be a whopping $2.2 Billion worldwide collection.

A direct competitor, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, doesn’t seem to be in much of a competition as the WWE legend will only be featured in one movie this year, which will be a holiday feature called ‘Red One’.

So far, things are looking good for John Cena as the wrestler could end up grabbing the prestigious title this year.
